I had a second round of belly blessing mehndi applied a week ago (see first round here) Again, it was a great experience with Anju Garg, of Mehndi Time, here in Austin.
Here is what my belly blessing looked like before the paste was removed:

I saw the pics on this Flickr account the other day and couldn’t figure out if it was you or someone else you knew how went and had it done…very cool. Was there a reason you did it a second time? What does something like this cost? (you can email me the answer if you want)
Anju was trying to build her portfolio of belly blessings so she offered me a deal on a second one that I couldn’t pass up! The range for getting this done is anywhere from $25-45 depending on the complexity that you want. We also make sure to tip her well.
That’s really not bad at all — for the intricacy of what they are doing and the artistic beauty, I really would have thought it would be more. It really is truly amazing what they do!
Agreed – and the cost probably varies with different artists and skill levels. Anju doesn’t do this full time – it’s her hobby so she may be less expensive than some! It really doesn’t take long to do either, but again, Anju’s skill level was very very high and she was amazing to watch. I couldn’t get over how she just came up with the design from nothing!
Looks awesome! And you still have an innie!
For the time being! We’ll see how long it lasts . . .
Did you design this? I love it!!!
Nope! Anju (the henna artist) freehanded it with no guidance. . . amazing!
I am glad that you did these cool henna blessings and not something like this.
Oh my goodness. Yikes.
