Veronica ‘Ronnie’ Larkin

Today, at 96 years old, my Nana passed away. She was an incredible woman, full of life and spitfire. She lived through several wars and even a depression. She experienced a happy marriage, life as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was beyond thrilled when she found out that she was going to have the opportunity to meet and love on her great grand-son. Jude was her light over the last year. I am so thankful that I got to take Jude to Dallas not long ago to spend some quality time with Nana. Jude loved her. He was always smiling when he was in her lap. I think he knew how much she loved him. I know how much she loved me, my husband, my mom, my dad, and my brother.

One of my favorite descriptions of her was from a good friend of mine who described her as the grandma that she could picture swinging from the chandelier, wine glass in hand. She was always ready for a good time with friends and family. She was well loved and lived a full life but we are going to miss her immensely here. We love you Nana.

My imaginary memory of sweet Nana swinging from that chandelier will forever live in my heart. She really was the life of the party. I’m so touched you still remember that. Love you.

I am so sorry for your loss Beth. She sounds like she was an amazing woman who lived a long, happy life. I lost my grandparents long ago and the best medicine for me and my family was to always remember, laugh about the times you had together, reminisce, celebrate her life with the ones who knew and loved her. We still end up talking about both of them every year at Christmas, even though they passed almost 15 years ago. And it makes us all smile and laugh. I love you dear. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I’ve “lurked” at your blog off and on, and this post just caught my eye – I am getting married in three weeks at which time I will be “Veronica Larkin”. Just wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with you and your memory of your sweet Nana. She sounds like a wonderful woman and I hope to live up to the name :)
