I put my little guy to work this week helping me set up my new raised garden bed. He loved playing in the dirt and helping me scoop the new compost into the bed. I love that he’s not afraid to get dirty with me while I’m working in the yard! He loves to help, and I love to teach him how to help – it works out well. He’s helped me bag leaves, pull weeds, water plants . . . It’s a great learning experience for him. I’m especially excited about this new garden bed we’re building because he’s going to be able to help me plant and harvest the veggies this year! I’m excited for him to grow up knowing where his food comes from and helping make it grow. Oh, the scientific plant names I will teach him. . .
This week, we also discovered Mr. Printables. Oh my goodness, what a great resource! We are working our way through the alphabet now – coloring and talking about things that begin with each letter. I want to utilize their flash cards section as well – the number flash cards are super cute!
And we colored a ton. . . but what I realized this week is that he almost loves putting the triangle crayons back in their holder as much as he likes drawing with them. I love these crayons – they are Melissa and Doug. Sturdy, easy to grasp and non-toxic. A good combo.
This was my favorite activity of the week: spray painting with diluted tempera paint! I had a chunk of white fabric that I pinned to the fence and let him go to town with the spray bottle. I am not convinced this was his favorite activity since it was a little difficult for him to push the toggle, but I’m sure he will eventually grow to love it. An added bonus? It rained later this day and washed the sheet clean, so we will give it another try later one with a clean canvas.
What have you been up to with your little ones?
