The giveaway is now closed.
You guys, I cannot tell you how excited I am to get to give away this item. There is so much that this item represents and today is a very special day.
First of all, let me tell you an amazing story about some faithful friends and their pursuit to “love them, and love Him”. There are a couple of Bible verses that directed this story: Matthew 25:40, which says, “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me”; and James 1:27, which calls us “to look after orphans and widows in their distress”.
Because of their practical application of these verses, my good friend Krista, her husband Jake and their son Camp (one of Jude’s closest friends) are bringing home the newest member of their family, Enock Austin Box from Uganda as you are reading this right now. The journey to bring their second son home has been a long one, filled with much waiting, longing and trusting that God would provide finances and line up all of the thousands of details just so.
Today, they were awarded legally guardianship! You can read more about their story on their blog.
Why do I bring this up? Because Noonday Collection helped them bring their sweet boy home. Noonday Collection partners with families looking to raise money for international adoptions through jewelry trunk shows. And Krista is one of their newest ambassadors.
Cool, right? But it gets even better.
The artisans that Noonday Collection purchases their collection through get paid a fair and competitive wage for the skilled work of their hands. By purchasing these beautiful items, you enable them to earn more than what they would in another job. Their family eats, their children go to school, they employ other women. . . the benefits just compound over time. You know that I get excited about things like this!
So in celebration of Enock’s new family, Krista has graciously donated a Kampala with Love necklace for a giveaway. It is near and dear to her heart because it is made in the same place the Enock was born. This necklace has layers of red paper beads that dangle from twisted African fabric. It is handmade by African Style, a group that Noonday Collection helped launch in Uganda. Headed by Jalia, the lead designer and organizer, she and her husband mentor and teach the men and women while they create exclusive pieces.
I’m pretty excited about doing a little shopping at Noonday – their items make great presents, I mean, Christmas will be here before we all know it! And I feel good about spending my money in a way that I know is improving someone’s life.
I love this necklace – it’s super light weight and is easy to wear with so many things. I’m going to enjoy wearing it around while waiting for you guys to comment and win it. You guys don’t mind, right? 🙂
