And no, I don’t mean the one where a bunch of women work out together. Earlier this year, I signed up for a sewing class that focuses on improving your ability to sew curves over at Stitched in Color. Every week, there are several projects to complete and of course, I am several weeks behind since I managed to get myself quite sick. I am finally well rested and no longer confined to the couch and I finished the first week of the class projects. And let me tell you, it feels good to be sewing again. It’s been far too long.
The first week is essentially a warm up to curves. What I’m most excited about is learning to piece curves for quilting. But that will come, later on. . . The first project? Some fabric bunting from my stash of ikea fabric. Pretty simple to whip up!
Second project, a bib. I know, I’ve made a ton of these but I’m a rule follower so I’m going in order of the class. And it will end up as a gift to one of my many friends that are pregnant now.
And the last project of the first week was this beautiful clamshell pillow. This one was stinking hard for me! I felt like my machine wanted to suck the fabric down into feed dogs and I couldn’t keep things quite lined up correctly. And I even pinned! You guys know that I don’t normally do that! BUT I like the end result. It’s not my best work but I learned a lot from it. And that’s the point right? Now I just have to find a place for this pillow to live . . .
Best part about all of this is that I haven’t spent any money on the supplies. I’ve been using my stash of scraps and existing fabrics. Pretty awesome to finally be using them up!
We’ll see if I can finish the next week of class this week and continue to stay ONLY a week behind!

I love the pillow!
I’m so glad you’re up and able to sew again. I love, love, love your bunting. Awesome fabric choice! And, just so you know, you don’t have to do all the projects to get a gold star in my book =)
