Y’all. The other day I ended up in Target without Jude and totally got sucked in. Target seems to do that, doesn’t it. I had a handful of items (included a navy striped dress and mint colored skinny capris that I haven’t quite stopped thinking about yet) and even tried them on. Then I sat in the dressing room and agonized about whether or not to buy the couple items I thought were cute (remember, I’m an over-thinker). Should I spend the money on new clothes? I could just NOT tell you guys, right? I mean, I did publicly declare my intent to only shop at the thrift store for the year on the blog, but that doesn’t mean I have to tell you everything? Oh but my guilty conscience…
So.
Instead, I put those items back on the rack and went home. Several days later I went to my trusty thrift store and scored these items for LESS than I would have spent on the 3-4 items at Target. That cute little black floral dress on the right? Still had tags on it. And I’m noticing a trend in the style of dress I picked out (boatneck with sleeve and waist cinch?) I am going to have to alter the tank top straps because, um, my shoulder to boob-top ratio seems to be shorter than everyone else. Or manufacturers like to see a lot of what I like to keep covered.
And I totally found a sweet pair of heels. Gotta love the neutral colored ombre and never worn thrifted shoes that are not – 1) too high, 2) stilettos, 3) uncomfortable. Score on all three accounts. Hello date night!
Did you guys catch that there were no stripes in there this time? And I bought something with allover flowers? Who am I?
12 items total: 3 tank tops, 3 shorts, 4 dresses, a skinny belt and a pair of hot mama heels.

Those Madden heels are STELLAR! And I’m totally liking that green dress & the neckline on that purple number. Great thrift finds – looks like it was a success!
If you don’t mind me asking…where’s this trusty thrift shop you mention?
Plato’s Closet and Buffalo Exchange are my trusty standbys. Sometimes goodwill and salvation army have some good things… Especially for refashioning!
That purple dress looks great on you!
Thanks!
I’m going to have to get you to teach me how to shorten tank straps. Pretty much all of the tanks I own need shortened, and I haven’t taken the time to figure out how to do it right!
I know how hard you are on yourself so I wanted to let you know that you have once again inspired me. Over the past couple years between pregnancy, an altered post-pregnancy back-to-work body and eventually ending up more than a full size smaller than my pre-pregnancy self I have purchased SO MANY CLOTHES. And I think it just became a habit to constantly be on the hunt for more and more clothes. Your blog a few weeks ago made me realize that I have a pretty decent wardrobe and really don’t need any more clothes. So thank you for inspiring me once again! I love it when you do that
