I can’t believe I’m working with thick wool yarn in the heat of the summer. Apparently the fervor of the new house has messed with my brain! I’m making a chevron ‘blanket’ (see inspiration here) to lay across the foot of the bed – mainly so I have something to put around my shoulders while I read in bed. I say ‘blanket’, because it’s only going to be about three feet long – does a blanket like this that goes at the foot of the bed have a name? I can’t seem to find one if it does. . . I’m going off the scheme I posted about the other day and doing mainly grey with a hint of green and rust red. Lots of chunky texture happening in this blanket and it’s so heavy and soft. Perfect for snuggling.

I’m using this easy peasy pattern, which has been so much fun to stitch up. So far we are at 4 skeins of yarn completed – luckily I’m using coupons to get them cheap! Because the yarn is so chunky and the pattern is so simple, it’s been stitching up very quickly. Well, that, and I’ve been working on it while cheering on the Olympics. I don’t even like sports and somehow the Olympics still appeals to me! Maybe by the time the Olympics are over, my blanket will be complete. . . we will see!

  1. It is called something, but of course I just cannot remember it now. It’s something fancy and kind of silly.

In the quilting world, what you are making would be called a bed runner. Is it the same for the yarn world?

Ah yes, it is the same thing! Thanks.

I was gifted a bag of 100% wool yarn (worsted weight) that is about 4 feet tall recently. I recollect a lot of neutrals and grays in there… would you like to stop by some time and see if any would work for you? I’m happy to give it away!
