We had this dining room table – it was functional but pretty boring and not in great condition.
So I had an idea. I’m sure I saw it on pinterest somewhere but I didn’t pin it. I started by priming the table with Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer because you don’t have to sand before applying. Makes life easier.
Then I painted it. The base is a beige-y grey.
The top? Chalkboard paint. I finally fell for this DIY trend. I’m pretty sure you can put chalkboard paint on anything and it’s all on pinterest.
Turns out you have to ‘prime’ the top of the table with chalk before drawing on it for the first time.
Wiped down and looking like a chalkboard!
‘Mom said I could draw on the table!’
‘I’m not even getting in trouble for this!’
Circles. Circles. And more circles!
I think this is a success! His drawing reminds me of Kandinsky’s Farbstudie Quadrate Circles. Maybe I have an artist on my hands? Wishful thinking? Maybe.
Not only is this a great way to occupy my little monkey, I think it will be very fun to use the chalkboard top for dinner parties – labeling food and drinks just got a lot easier!
