We are slowly but surely completing projects around the house and getting things to look how we would like. One particular area I was excited about was our new mantel – we hadn’t had one in either of our three previous houses!

The first photo I saw that was inspirational to me what one I saw floating around pinterest. It seemed to suit the personality of our house pretty well. The thing was, I didn’t have a lot of the items to make this happen. Isn’t that little deer hook cool? And of course, I love the asymmetry.

Enter the next photo that struck me as inspiring. Also quite eclectic in it’s mix of textures and colors but I felt I could pull something together from what I already owned or had bought in preparation for having a mantel.

Here’s what I ended up with. I spray painted two frames that I already had with paint I had leftover from the folding chair redo to bring some pops of color. My bro-in-law did that great macro photo shot (no idea what plant it is!), doesn’t it look awesome in it’s new yellow frame? Then I added the new print I bought when we moved – “Small Homes Grow Tight Families” along with a collage I won from a photoshoot when Jude was 10 months old. Cluster of photos, complete.

Eclectic Mantel

And then finally, a smattering of books, my Nana’s crystal vase, two little bud vases I picked up at a garage sale, some greenery and a new print of art that I had been admiring on etsy!

Eclectic Mantel

I eventually would like to add a vintage ‘C’ letter to the mix but that will happen when it happens. As for now, I’m happy with the way it has turned out!
